Each year, the Graduate School acknowledges the accomplishments of its graduating students, the contributions of University faculty and staff, and the impact of alumni.

Awards

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching recognizes outstanding pedagogical achievement by a Brown University graduate student.
In order to recognize the significant contributions of Brown University faculty members as advisors or mentors to graduate students, the Graduate School invites nominations on behalf of any Brown faculty member who has served as a graduate advisor, unofficial or official mentor, trainer, or dissertation chair for the Graduate School Faculty Award for Advising & Mentoring.
The Horace Mann Medal is given annually to a Brown Graduate School alumnus or alumna who has made significant contributions in his or her field, inside or outside of academia.
The Joukowsky Family Foundation Outstanding Dissertation Award is an annual prize awarded by the Graduate School for superior achievements in research by students who are completing their Ph.Ds.
The Brown University Graduate Student Council confers the Wilson-DeBlois Award annually to a staff member who has made outstanding contributions to doctoral students and the Graduate School.
The Brown University Graduate Student Council conferrs the Bates-Clapp Award annually to a staff member who has made outstanding contributions to master's students and the Graduate School.
This Award is given by the Division of Campus Life on behalf of the Corporation Committee on Campus Life and recognizes a select group of graduating doctoral and master’s students who have contributed in a very significant way to the sense of community at Brown.
