The Brown Bookstore is an independently operated retail hub dedicated to serving the academic and campus life needs of students, faculty, and staff.  Our store provides  essential course materials, branded merchandise, school supplies, dorm supplies, technology products and convenience items. The Brown Center for Students of Color (BCSC) serves as a gathering space for communities of color on campus. BCSC hosts events and programs that build and affirm community by centering our ways of knowing and being. We situate our lived experiences in a socio-historical context through self-reflection and critical dialogue. With an understanding of the structural causes of individual and communal experiences, we are then able to explore tangible ways to create change.

BWell Health Promotion is dedicated to helping Brown University students develop lifelong, holistic health and well-being skills. We take an empowerment-based approach and provide both preventative programs and responsive services.

Our prevention initiatives include five peer education groups (B-TEAM, BURP, SHAG, SAPE, and WPE!), as well as workshops and outreach efforts focused on sexual health, relationship empowerment, social well-being, stress management, and violence prevention. We also offer the Culture of Consent and Community Care programs during Orientation to promote a supportive campus environment.

For students in need of support, BWell offers confidential appointments with professional staff to discuss topics such as substance use, sexual health, or experiences of sexual or relational harm. Additionally, our Sexual Assault Response Line is available 24/7 to provide crisis support for any incidents of sexual violence or interpersonal harm. Our crisis counselors help guide students through their options, including seeking medical attention, reporting the incident, finding a safe space, and more.

BWell also provides private online ordering for free health empowerment tools and safer sex supplies through BWell By Mail and Ship n SHAG, with deliveries made via campus mail. Students can also pick up these tools at our BWell On the Go locations around campus or outside our office at 450 Brook Street.

The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at Brown University advances interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public dialogue on Latin America and the Caribbean. Through dynamic programming and strong support for students and faculty, CLACS engages the region’s diverse histories, languages, and pressing issues. Its work situates Latin America and the Caribbean in global contexts, fostering critical inquiry and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The Office of the Chaplains extends a welcome to all religious traditions, as well as those who identify as secular or spiritual. Our work is with undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, as well as with staff, faculty and alumni/ae. We offer confidential counsel, provide opportunities to strengthen religious literacy, and aim to create spaces and opportunities to explore life's profound questions, whether religious, philosophical, ethical, or within spiritual practice.

The Cogut Institute for the Humanities is an interdisciplinary hub for innovative humanities research and teaching at Brown University, supporting both individual scholars and collaborative projects, and building community around topics of shared interest, such as the environment and AI. The institute organizes a variety of exciting public events and offers courses, two doctoral certificates, and fellowships at all levels.

CAPS provides brief and intermittent individual psychological treatment, mental health support, medication management, training and consultation for faculty and staff, crisis stabilization, 24/7 support, outreach programming, and groups.

The Curricular Resource Center (CRC) is a community of peer and full-time advisors-coaches-mentors-educators who support student engagement with academics and Brown's Open Curriculum.

Brown Dining represents the people behind the University's dining halls, retail units and catering functions. Our mission is to provide high quality foods and services to all segments of the University while fostering a sense of community conducive to intellectual and personal growth.

The Donovan Program for Recovery and Substance-Free Student Initiatives endeavors to support students who are in recovery, who are engaged in harm reduction practices, or who are substance-free for any reason through anti-stigma advocacy, inclusive programming and holistic support structures.

Brown EMS is a collegiate ambulance service staffed by a team of licensed professionals and students who care for the Brown campus community.  All of our services, including emergency medical care and non-emergency rides to medical appointments, are delivered at no cost to students.

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) helps ensure a safe campus community and promotes environmental responsibility through partnerships with students, faculty, staff and visitors. EHS provides regulatory compliance assistance, training programs, program development and implementation, technical support, inspections and emergency response services.

The Office of Equity Compliance and Reporting (OECR) serves all members of the Brown community, offering consultation and advice, formal and informal processes for resolving complaints of discrimination and harassment, and resources and support. We work with University departments and staff to offer consultation about compliance with civil rights laws and regulations, and we partner with other University offices to investigate concerns and address prohibited conduct.

Facilities and Campus Operations is responsible for ensuring that the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of all Brown University facilities and grounds support the academic, research, and administrative functions while balancing financial and technical constraints with aesthetic and historical concerns.

Fellowships at Brown supports all undergraduates in pursuing national and international fellowships and scholarships based on their academic, professional, and extracurricular interests and goals.

The Office of Financial Aid provides counseling and support to undergraduate and graduate students as they finance their education at Brown.  The department collects financial aid application materials and determines a student's need and federal aid eligibility as well as undergraduate eligibility for institutional funding.

The Global Brown Center for International Students (GBC) aims to cultivate a home away from home for our international community here at Brown University through international orientations and transitional support, community and cultural programs, fostering a sense of intercultural and global competency across campus, and advocating for our global students.

The Graduate Student Council (GSC) of Brown University is the student government organization for Brown’s graduate student community of approximately 3,000 members. Our aims are to foster a sense of community among graduate students across departments, facilitate collective action on graduate student-related issues, and be a voice for the graduate community within the University and the Providence area. We also provide events and resources to support the academic and social lives of Brown graduate students.

Office of Graduate Studies in BioMed supports master's and doctoral students enrolled in BioMed graduate programs.  We offer professional development, Responsible Conduct of Research training, fellowship workshops, conference travel funding, as well as academic and professional development advising.

International House of Rhode Island promotes friendship, connection, learning, and global understanding by bringing people together from around the world for cross-cultural exchange. The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) at Brown University serves as a resource for international students, faculty, researchers, and their families. Its main functions include providing immigration and visa advice, helping with orientation and cultural adjustment.

Brown University Library provides access to the information resources you need to be successful at Brown, including books, journals, data sets, streaming media, and so much more.  Library staff love questions, and are available to help out with all aspects of your research and coursework. The Library has several campus locations: Rockefeller Library, Sciences Library, John Hay Library, Orwig Music Library, and Champlin Medical Library.

The Division of Masters and Professional Programs offers career and professional development services for Brown’s early career and executive master’s students at all stages of their career. Our goal is to enable master’s students to explore and pursue fulfilling careers in the academy, private industry, government, nonprofits, start-ups, and anywhere in between.

The Office of Military-Affiliated Students (OMAS) assists student veterans, ROTC cadets, and other military-affiliated students in making successful transitions into and out of the Brown community. We do this by offering programs and support services that facilitate learning opportunities within the military-affiliated and Brown community at large, connecting students to campus and community resources, and by supporting and advocating for our student veterans and ROTC cadets. OMAS also engages with Brown students interested in learning more about the military-affiliated community and with students exploring their options to serve in the Armed Forces post-graduation.

We are the campus hub for entrepreneurship. We teach entrepreneurship as a structured process for problem solving and do so in three areas: curricular, co-curricular – public speaker talks, workshops, and undergraduate student clubs, and venture support in the form of direct financial support to ventures and mentorship.

The Brown University Ombuds Office is a confidential, off-the-record, neutral, and independent support resource. The office provides graduate students, medical students, postdoctoral scholars, staff, and faculty with assistance in problem-solving and conflict management related to issues or conflicts that arise from or affect life at Brown.

The Payroll Office will be available to discuss pay schedules and pay dates to students who have a job on campus or will be obtaining one. They will discuss payroll deadlines for entering time, withholding elections, direct deposit elections, and annual tax forms.

The Foreign National Tax Office will discuss the importance of registering in their foreign national tax software, Sprintax-Calculus. It is required that all foreign nationals receiving (or planning to receive) a payment from the university register in this system. They will explain how to obtain logon credentials, upload immigration documents, and e-sign tax forms. Additionally they will discuss the impacts of a person's tax status on payments and tax forms they would receive from the university.

The Office of the President amplifies the President's impact by ensuring that the President's priorities are appropriately communicated and advanced, engaging with University stakeholders on behalf of the President, and ensuring that the President's home and office are appropriately operated in service to Brown.

The Pembroke Center for Research and Teaching of Women was established in 1981 following the merger of Brown and Pembroke in 1971. Located in Pembroke Hall, it offers courses, degrees, certficates and suppports Ph.D. candidates in gender studies. It has its own faculty and offers graduate prizes for students.

The Division of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs provides academic opportunities for high school and undergraduate students. The Division engages throughout the year with students from around the world in intellectually and socially formative and challenging experiences in and out of the classroom with a diverse group of peers, instructors and staff. Brown University’s commitment to independent thinking, critical engagement and personal and community responsibility is manifested in our academically rigorous programs, serving a wide range of students.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is a fully functioning police department and serves the Brown Community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, patrolling the campus to deter crime, develop community relations, and respond to calls for service and assistance. The department’s mission emphasizes crime prevention, problem solving and joint officer-community responsibility.

The Office of the Registrar serves as custodian of all student records in accordance with university policies and government statutes and manages the student information system for all areas related to enrollment/registration, course information and scheduling, grading/transcript production and ultimately degree clearance and certification.

Established in 1877, the RISD Museum is a dynamic space for creative exploration, learning, and community engagement. Spanning cultures from ancient times to the present, our collection fosters accessibility, inclusion, and meaningful connections across communities. Brown maintains an institutional membership to the museum, so Brown students always have free admission and can take advantage of programs and opportunities just for students!

The Brown Semester Internship Program combines a 12-14 week internship experience and academic coursework for the fall or spring semester. Students have the opportunity to gain direct experience in a dynamic field, immerse themselves in a new culture and community, and collaborate with fellow Brown students in small cohorts.

To ensure adequate protection against unexpected medical expenses, all registered full and part-time undergraduate, graduate and medical students in a degree granting program, who are not enrolled exclusively in an online program are automatically charged and enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), annually. Participation in SHIP is required unless a waiver is submitted and approved each academic year by the waiver deadline.

Brown offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study abroad through a wide variety of academic programs, some offered directly by the university and others sponsored by institutions that Brown approves for academic credit.

Brown University's Office of Sustainability and Resiliency (OSR) develops and implements strategies to enable the community to flourish in the face of a changing climate and other sustainability challenges. We focus on reducing the University’s environmental footprint while building campus resiliency and the ability to adapt to current and future environmental changes. The office works closely with campus and community partners on a variety of topics such as decarbonization, nitrogen pollution, healthier materials, energy efficiency, and equity and inclusion. The Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies (TAPS) is the intellectual and artistic center at Brown for faculty and students interested in the aesthetic, historical, literary, practical, and theoretical explorations of performance in global perspective - theatre, dance, speech, performance art, and performative "roles" in everyday life.

The Undocumented, First-Generation College, and Low-Income Student Center (U-FLi Center), founded in the fall of 2016, is a dedicated support hub for students who identify with the U-FLi student experience. The Center coordinates programs and initiatives designed to promote holistic student success and a sense of belonging. New undergraduate students are encouraged to connect with the center’s team of U-FLi Peer Counselors who provide holistic mentorship throughout the year and coordinate events to help students navigate campus resources.
