The Brown Annual Fund (BAF) hopes to connect with graduate students to discuss giving at a level that provides stewardship and recognition and gain interest in volunteering for the Annual Fund.

Through creative engagement, events, and personal outreach, members of the Brown Annual Fund Student Committee (BAFSC) educate fellow undergraduates about the impact of philanthropy on Brown and celebrate the giving of alumni and peers. Committee members work with the Division of Advancement as student representatives on campus. The fundamental goal is to encourage students to start thinking philanthropically throughout their time at Brown and as they eventually join the alumni community.

Students are encouraged to build meaningful relationships across differences, develop racial and ethnic consciousness, and enact change at Brown and beyond. The campus-wide Brown Votes initiative was designed to improve voter registration, education and participation at Brown. With joint and equal participation from students, faculty, and staff and the Swearer Center, Brown Votes streamlines voter initiatives at the University by providing a hub for resource-sharing, communication and coordination among all student groups, faculty members and staff.

The Career Opportunities & Research in Earth Sciences (CORES) initiative at Brown University engages public high school students in Providence by offering education and mentorship in earth and planetary sciences. The Robert J. & Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science is committed to supporting research and facilitating collaborations in brain science across the Brown University community. Our mission is to promote discovery and innovation in brain science by supporting a diverse community of experimentalists, theorists, engineers, and clinical scientists. The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at Brown University facilitates the study of this dynamic region from a multidisciplinary perspective. CLACS organizes academic conferences, lectures, and cultural programming, and supports over 100 faculty affiliates as well as graduates and undergraduates interested in the region.

The Chaplains extend a welcome to all religious traditions, as well as those who identify as secular or spiritual. Our work is with undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, as well as with staff, faculty and alumni/ae. Chaplains pray, teach, share coffee and tea, hold office hours, offer programs for the religious and the non-religious; and provide confidential counsel and sanctuary to any member of the Brown community.

The Cogut Institute for the Humanities fosters interdisciplinary and collaborative research and teaching in the humanities and also across the University. It offers innovative, often team-taught, courses on a variety of subjects, including the environmental humanities and AI, as well as a rich array of public events. It also hosts a cohort of annual research fellows at all levels, including undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and faculty.

Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) takes a collaborative approach to mental health services to assist students in improving their lives. CAPS provides a range of mental health services: brief and intermittent individual psychological treatment, mental health support, medication management, training and consultation for faculty and staff, crisis stabilization, 24/7 support, outreach programming, and groups.

The Curricular Resource Center (CRC) is a community of peer and full-time advisors-coaches-mentors-educators who support student engagement with academics and Brown's Open Curriculum.

The Donovan Program for Recovery and Substance-Free Initiatives endeavors to support students who are in recovery or who are substance-free for any reason through anti-stigma advocacy, inclusive programming and holistic support structures.

Brown Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) serves the campus community with 24/7 emergency medical care as well as non-emergency healthcare-related transportation. BEMS is a part of the department of Health and Wellness.

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) helps ensure a safe campus community and promotes environmental responsibility through partnerships with students, faculty, staff and visitors. EHS provides regulatory compliance assistance, training programs, program development and implementation, technical support, inspections and emergency response services.

Facilities and Campus Operations is responsible for ensuring that the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of all Brown University facilities and grounds support the academic, research, and administrative functions while balancing financial and technical constraints with aesthetic and historical concerns.

Fellowships at Brown offers holistic, inclusive advising to guide and support undergraduates and recent alums in the process of identifying and applying for a fellowship or scholarship. The Office of Financial Aid provides counseling and support to undergraduate and graduate students as they finance their education at Brown.  The department collects financial aid application materials and determines a student's need and federal aid eligibility as well as undergraduate eligibility for institutional funding.

The Global Brown Center for International Students (GBC) is dedicated to creating a home away from home for our undergraduate and graduate internationally-identifying students. We host programs supporting International undergraduate and graduate student needs, as well as cultural and community programs for all students. Our staff also serve as advocates for internationally identifying students, and provide support in navigating the many resources on campus.

The Office of Global Engagement at Brown University administers a number of study abroad centers around the world in Australia, Cuba, France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain. The Global Partnerships and Programs team offers Brown and visiting students opportunities for immersive experiences around the world and integration into diverse academic settings, while challenging students to gain new perspectives in an ever-changing world.

The Grad Center Bar is a private, non-profit club serving the Brown community. We offer great cocktails, an expansive beer selection, and many non-alcoholic options in a space that has 2 pool tables, a dart board, and lots of board games. As a graduate student, you are already a member (once you come in and get a membership card) courtesy of the Grad Student Council.

The Graduate Student Council (GSC) of Brown University is the student government organization for Brown’s graduate student community. Our primary aims are to foster a sense of community among graduate students across departments, facilitate collective action on graduate student-related issues, and be a voice for the graduate community within the University and the Providence area. We also provide events and resources to support the academic and social lives of Brown graduate students.

Office of Graduate Studies in BioMed supports masters and doctoral students enrolled in BioMed Grad Programs.  We offer professional development, Responsible Conduct of Research training, fellowship workshops, conference travel funding as well as academic and professional development advising.

The Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology is Brown University’s teaching and research museum. A resource across the university, we inspire creative and critical thinking about culture by fostering interdisciplinary understanding of the material world. We provide opportunities for faculty and students to work with collections and the public, teaching through objects and programs in classrooms, in the gallery in Manning Hall, and at the Collections Research Center. Health Services and its affiliated departments aim to provide high-quality, patient-centered primary care. All services are confidential, easily accessible, and responsive to individual student needs.

Brown's Office of Information Technology provides primary support to students to meet their technology needs. We offer technical troubleshooting, software installations, and rental equipment from our IT Service Center in Page-Robinson Hall.

The Initiative for Maximizing Student Development at Brown University (IMSD@Brown) provides research training support for students in underrepresented groups to significantly increase participation within the fields of biomedical, behavioral and physical sciences. IMSD@Brown strives for community, collaboration, and excellence in an innovative interactive learning environment. Participants are identified from incoming and early-stage PhD cohorts spanning 22 graduate programs across the University. IMSD@Brown training modules are open to all PhD students at Brown.

The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) serves as a critical leader, resource, and support in sponsoring programs and events related to diversity and inclusion at Brown University. We are a resource to all students and look forward to welcoming students as they embark on the 2024-2025 academic year.

International House of Rhode Island is an independent nonprofit multi-cultural organization that provides a “home away from home” for international students, scholars, professors, researchers, and their families. Offerings include conversational English language classes and tutoring at all levels, foreign language classes and tutoring, orientation to local activities, French Club, dinners, and concerts.

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) supports the integration of international students and scholars into the Brown community through immigration(F-1/J-1) resources and guidance.

The LGBTQ Center works to create and maintain an open, safe, and inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students, faculty and staff, their families and friends, and the campus community at large. We host a variety of programs throughout the year and have a center space on campus at 22 Benevolent Street known as Stonewall House that is accessible to the Brown Community.

Brown University Library provides access to the information resources you need to be successful at Brown, including books, journals, data sets, streaming media, and so much more.  Library staff love questions, and are available to help out with all aspects of your research and coursework. The Library has several campus locations: Rockefeller Library, Sciences Library, John Hay Library, Orwig Music Library, and Champlin Medical Library.

The Division of Masters and Professional Programs offers career and professional development services for Brown’s early career and executive master’s students at all stages of their career. Our goal is to enable master’s students to explore and pursue fulfilling careers in the academy, private industry, government, nonprofits, start-ups, and anywhere in between.

The Office of Military-Affiliated Students (OMAS) assists student veterans, ROTC cadets, and other military-affiliated students in making successful transitions into and out of the Brown community.

The Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship provides curricular, co-curricular, and venture support to help our community have ventures that have an impact at scale. We teach entrepreneurship as a structured process for problem-solving and offer programs, courses, and co-curricular events. Our programs are open to undergraduate, graduate, and master's students, faculty, and the campus community.

The Brown University Ombuds is a voluntary, confidential resource that helps empower the served community to find working solutions to conflicts and issues they are facing.

The Payroll Office will be available to discuss the types of wage payments students may receive while at the University. They will also discuss pay schedules and pay dates, deadlines for entering time, withholding elections, direct deposit elections, and annual tax forms.

The Foreign National Tax Office will discuss the importance of their tax analysis software, Sprintax Calculus. All foreign nationals receiving a payment from the university need to register in this system.  They will explain how to receive logon credentials, upload documents, and e-sign tax forms.  They will also discuss the impact of a person's tax status and the annual tax forms they will receive.

PLME and medical student families are important members of the Brown Medical Community. As members, you have direct access to the Medical School’s parents/families and alumni relations team who can help answer your questions and connect you to the various resources available to you. Brown Pre-College enrolls almost 7,000 students each summer, representing all 50 United States and over 70 countries. Brown University Pre-College Programs provide students with intellectually and socially formative and challenging experiences in and out of the classroom with a diverse group of peers, instructors and staff. Brown University Pre-College provides opportunities for graduate students to implement courses of their own design and for students at each academic stage to support the Pre-College Student Life Team in creating an inclusive and supportive co-curricular environment and residential space.

We are a full-service public safety department that serves the Brown Community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, patrolling the campus to deter crime, develop community relations, and respond to calls for service and assistance.

The Office of the Registrar serves as custodian of all student records in accordance with university policies and government statutes and manages the student information system for all areas related to enrollment/registration, course information and scheduling, grading/transcript production and ultimately degree clearance and certification.

"Res Life" is responsible for the daily operations of our residence halls, housing assignments, and year-round 24/7 on call emergency response. We also provide educational programming to promote community, student learning and holistic development.

Established in 1877 as part of a vibrant creative community, the RISD Museum stewards works of art representing diverse cultures from ancient times to the present. The Brown Semester Internship Program combines a 12-14 week internship experience and academic coursework for the fall or spring semester. Students have the opportunity to gain direct experience in a dynamic field, immerse themselves in a new culture and community, and collaborate with fellow Brown students in small cohorts.

Student Accessibility Services is dedicated to creating a campus where every student can fully participate in academic and co-curricular activities. The Student Activities Office (SAO) supports the initiatives of 450+ active, UCS & GSC recognized student organizations. They seek to create an inclusive campus environment through individualized advising, leadership development and community building. SAO also provides assistance such as event planning, advocacy for student group needs and coordination of university services.

The Brown community has developed procedures to address behaviors that interfere with the educational mission of the University. At Brown University, we offer a wide range of exciting and challenging job opportunities for students. Working on campus gives students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and build skills for the future. Student employment at Brown is centrally managed in University Human Resources (UHR) which is responsible for maintaining compliance with government and federal regulations, including I-9s and the Fair Labor Standards Act.

To ensure adequate protection against unexpected medical expenses, all registered full and part-time undergraduate, graduate and medical students in a degree granting program, who are not enrolled exclusively in an online program are automatically charged and enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), annually. Participation in SHIP is required unless a waiver is submitted and approved each academic year by the waiver deadline. Our insurance expert provide support to our student with private insurance or the school plan all year round.

Study Abroad Advising helps Brown students discover study abroad programs that can help to support their intellectual and personal goals. Brown offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study abroad through a wide variety of academic programs, some offered directly by the university and others sponsored by institutions that Brown approves for academic credit.

Brown University's Office of Sustainability and Resiliency (OSR) develops and implements strategies to enable the community to flourish in the face of a changing climate and other sustainability challenges. We focus on reducing the University’s environmental footprint while building campus resiliency and the ability to adapt to current and future environmental changes. The office works closely with campus and community partners on a variety of topics such as decarbonization, nitrogen pollution, healthier materials, energy efficiency, and equity and inclusion. We connect with the mission of the University by using our campus as a living laboratory for education and innovation. The Title IX and Gender Equity Office oversees compliance with federal laws relating to sexual and gender-based harassment, as well as University policies and procedures relating to gender discrimination, sexual violence, and misconduct. The Office collaborates with Brown students, staff, faculty, and other campus partners to educate our community through robust prevention programs. It provides culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support and resources for individuals impacted by sexual misconduct.

The Undocumented, First-Generation College and Low-Income Student (U-FLi) Center is a community-building, learning, and advocacy center for Brown students who identify with any or all of the following experiences: undocumented, first-generation college and low-income. New undergraduate students are encouraged to connect with the center’s team of U-FLi peer counselors who provide holistic mentorship throughout the year and coordinate events to help students navigate campus resources.
