Steven Radilla is the Diversity Initiatives Program Coordinator in the Graduate School. Steven works on the recruitment of graduate students from underrepresented minority groups, both through on and off-campus initiatives. Specifically, he works on coordinating Graduate School major events such as Graduate Student of Color Orientation, Preview Day, and Super Monday. Through off-campus recruitment efforts, he attends national and regional conferences and events, such as ABRCMS, McNair events, and the GEM consortium to meet with prospective students. Moreover, Steven works closely with current graduate students from affinity groups to support community events and to advance retention efforts. Within his position, he is also an administrator for the NIH-PREP program at Brown where he coordinates programming to support post-baccalaureate students. In his work, he collaborates with staff, faculty, and students to enhance and improve the graduate student of color community.
A Brown alum (’21 AM) in American Studies from Houston, Texas and Charlotte, NC, Steven was a Questbridge Scholar and double major in Political & Social Thought and American Studies at the University of Virginia. In his free time, Steven is interested in spatial politics, music, and film.
