Graduate Student Union Dues

Dear Graduate Students,

Payroll deductions for any dues, fees, and/or voluntary contributions as described in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Brown University and the Union, dated June 3, 2020 (the “Agreement”), will resume for those Graduate Student Employees included in the bargaining unit in the January stipend payment. At the Union’s request, and having collected authorization forms from those in the bargaining unit, each payday, the University shall deduct a sum of full union membership dues or Fair Share Fees.

As a reminder, the Union has informed the University that the Union’s membership dues will be set at 1.65% of a student’s stipend and the Fair Share Fee will be assessed at 85% of the Union membership dues rate. Graduate student employees in the bargaining unit who have not provided a dues or fair share authorization are still subject to fee collection directly from the Union.

Graduate students can review whether they are included in the bargaining unit by checking their Spring 2021 appointment letter by logging into Self Service Banner (SSB) using their Brown credentials. Please follow the link to the “Student” tab and select “Graduate Student Appointment Details” at the bottom of the list.

Should you have any questions regarding the above listed deductions, please contact the Union at gradlabororg@gmail.com or the Graduate School at Graduate_School@Brown.edu.
