Taveras works alongside faculty, staff and students to coordinate training modules designed to support and enhance graduate program training. “I love being a resource that students can rely on as they navigate their academic careers. Being part of a student-centered community and feeling like I am impacting students is really important to me,” she says.
Prior to working with the IMSD program, she was a part of the Academic Affairs team at the School of Public Health and has been part of the Brown community for almost 12 years. Her favorite part about working at Brown is the culture of collaboration and working toward a common goal. She’s appreciative of support from colleagues whenever she needs assistance navigating a new part of the University. Taveras splits her time between the Arnold Lab, Monday through Wednesday, and the Graduate School, Thursdays and Fridays.
In her new role, she has enjoyed working with a wide range of peers and partners from across the University. “It's been great seeing how much our faculty and staff really care about the work that is being done to benefit our doctoral students,” she says.
Taveras is a Dominican American from Queens, NY, an artist, foodie and mom. She enjoys walking the campus, the proximity to the RISD Museum and the many nearby restaurants.
