“I am also looking forward to the placement opportunities and to begin learning from and contributing to the Providence community. The invaluable work experience will help me become a more prepared agent of change,” says Navarrete.
Navarrete was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a degree in Public Policy in the Spring of 2019. As an undergraduate, she interned in the House of Representatives through the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and dedicated time to developing mechanisms of support for Latinx and undocumented students on campus. “The obstacles I faced as a member of those communities fueled my passion for education access and equity and moved me to play a role in making my former campus more inclusive,” says Navarrete.
She is eager to explore future career options this year and looks forward to establishing a herself in a public service role and one day returning to the city of Detroit to contribute to equitable education reform initiatives.
