Master's Student Spotlight: Abdulwahab Al Luhaibi, Physics

Abdulwahab is from Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

Al LuhaibiI came to Brown just over a year ago from Makkah, a small city in Saudi Arabia, which is considered a holy cities for Muslims. When I arrived here I was nervous. It was my first time in the United States and I knew little about American culture, in particular of Rhode Island. I was exposed to many new things, both academically and culturally for the first time. I now consider them golden memories.

My dream is to be a scientist and in order to pursue that dream I wish to pursue a doctor of philosophy degree. Therefore, I am completing my master's degree before applying to a doctoral program. Every single field of physics is interesting, but if I must pick one, I hope for a career in condensed matter physics.
