Teaching at Teaching Intensive Institutions Conference

Many faculty enjoy rewarding careers at colleges and universities that primarily emphasize teaching, including liberal arts colleges, community colleges, and regional comprehensive universities.

Friday, October 17th - 12:00-2:30 pm (online)

All graduate students, postdocs, and recent graduate school alumni - from any college or university - are invited to attend this free conference. Participants can sign up to attend either panel or join for both.

  • Intro to Teaching Intensive Institutions, 12:00-1:15 pm
Think all faculty careers are the same? Think again! In this panel, senior faculty and administrators from a range of institutions will talk about how their institutions differ (students, mission, size, etc.) and how this motivates their career choices in this space.
  • Teaching Intensive Institutions: Tips for the Early Years, 1:30-2:30 pm
After many years at a research-intensive institution, becoming a faculty member at an institution that values teaching over research can take some adjusting! In this session, community college, state university, and liberal arts college faculty will reflect on their job searches and tips that helped them survive and thrive in their first year.
