Graduate School

Structure and Matriculation

Every program has a standard structure. The course load per semester varies by program.

Example 1: History Example 2: Biostatistics
AM: 4+4 AM: 3 + 2 + 2 + 1
ScM: 3 + 3 + 2 + 2

What's at Stake if you Vary From the Structure

Deviation could affect completion and tuition cost. There can be visa implications for international students who deviate from the program structure.

    Examples of Deviation

    • Adding a course
    • Dropping a course
    • Changing a course for credit to audit

If you contemplate making a change, be sure to seek approval first from both your DGS and the Graduate School. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is your point of contact at the Graduate School.

See tuition regulations on the Registrar's website.
