The Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch Center for Career Exploration directly supports current students and recent graduates through all aspects of the career planning and exploring process. In doing this work, the Center also engages alumni, parents and families and employers as active partners throughout the year.
The Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life leads Brown’s work in religious diversity and strives to enhance religious literacy within the University community. Our work is with undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, as well as with staff, faculty and alumni/ae. Chaplains pray, teach, share coffee and tea, hold office hours and offer programs for the religious and the non-religious. We seek to create spaces and opportunities to explore life's profound questions, whether religious, philosophical, ethical, or within spiritual practice.
The Cogut Institute for the Humanities is an interdisciplinary hub for innovative humanities research and teaching at Brown University. Students at all levels can participate through exciting courses and events, our fellowship or doctoral certificate programs, reading groups, and more. The institute is home to The Brown Journal of Medical Humanities, a student-run publication exploring the many human perspectives on medicine and health.
The Community Dialogue Project (CDP) supports the Brown community in cultivating empathy and belonging, deepening open inquiry and curiosity, and navigating difference and disagreement with care and skill.
Located on the third floor of Campus Center, CDP employs a cohort of student facilitators who lead skill development workshops, facilitate dialogues across difference, and provide conflict coaching. New students are encouraged to connect with CDP for advanced facilitation training, to request or participate in a facilitated dialogue, or for conflict coaching services.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) takes a collaborative approach to mental health services to assist students in improving their lives. CAPS provides a range of mental health services: brief and intermittent individual psychological treatment, mental health support, medication management, training and consultation for faculty and staff, crisis stabilization, 24/7 support, outreach programming, and groups.
The Curricular Resource Center (CRC) is a community of peer and full-time advisors-coaches-mentors-educators who support student engagement with academics and Brown's Open Curriculum. Whether you're seeking advice on your curricular options, exploring academic communities, or looking for coaching or strategies to optimize your learning experience, the CRC provides a range of programming and opportunities designed to connect students with Brown's academic resources and feel a sense of agency in exploring and achieving their goals.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) serves as a critical leader and resource in support of Brown University’s efforts to foster a strong academic community through initiatives that aim to help all faculty, students and staff thrive, feel welcome, and participate fully in the life of the University.
The Donovan Program for Recovery and Substance-Free Student Initiatives supports students who are in recovery, engaged in harm reduction practices, or who are substance-free for any reason through anti-stigma advocacy, inclusive programming, and holistic support structures.
Brown University Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) provides basic and advanced emergency medical care for medical emergencies, available by calling the Brown emergency number at 401-863-4111. The organization also provides a range of other services, including Campus Event Coverage, Wellness Wagon, and AEDs on Campus.
Brown Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) helps ensure a safe campus community and promotes environmental responsibility through partnerships with students, faculty, staff and visitors. EHS provides regulatory compliance assistance, training programs, program development and implementation, technical support, inspections and emergency response services.
The Office of Equity Compliance and Reporting in the Division of Campus Life serves students, faculty and staff by ensuring compliance with federal and state civil rights laws and supporting those who report incidents of discrimination or harassment.
The Ever Hope Center, which is a part of Family Service of Rhode Island, was established in response to the December 13, 2025 tragedy at Brown University and operates as a Resiliency Center, a nationally recognized model designed to support communities affected by mass violence. The Center provides coordinated, trauma-informed services including behavioral health treatment, victim support and navigation, healing and wellness programming, education and training, and opportunities for community connection and collective healing.
We support the University by enhancing the quality of physical facilities. We do this through planning, designing, engineering, constructing, and maintaining in a responsive, service-oriented, effective, and environmentally conscious manner.
Fellowships at Brown offers holistic, inclusive advising to guide and support undergraduate students and undergraduate alumni in the process of identifying and applying for an external fellowship or scholarship. Meet with us to explore opportunities that fund domestic and international research and travel, teaching and public service, and post-baccalaureate degrees.
Financial Advising is a collaborative component of the College, designed to support undergraduate students at Brown navigate various financial issues and concerns, while building on financial literacy skills, resilience, and empowerment.
The Brown Fire Safety Office is an integral part of Public Safety and Emergency Management. The Fire Safety Office provides resources and education to promote a fire safe campus for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The office provides Emergency Action Plan (EAP) training, fire extinguisher inspections and training, building and residential hall fire safety inspections, hot work and building impairment permitting, event fire safety and a variety of fire safety education and training.

The Global Brown Center for International Students (GBC) aims to cultivate a home away from home for our international community here at Brown University through international orientations and transitional support, community and cultural programs, fostering a sense of intercultural and global competency across campus, and advocating for our global students.
The GCB is a private, non-profit club serving the Brown University community. We have pool tables, darts, board games, cocktails, beer, wine, non-alcoholic options, and light snacks. Brown graduate students are automatically members.
There are more than 1,500 graduate students at Brown in more than 45 doctoral MFA programs. Please feel free to stop by our table with general questions and to pick up your Brown swag if you missed collecting it during All-Student or International Orientation.
The Graduate Student Council (GSC) of Brown University is the student government organization for Brown’s graduate student community of approximately 3,000 members. Our primary aims are to foster a sense of community among graduate students across departments, to facilitate collective action on graduate student-related issues, and to be a voice for the graduate community within the University and the Providence area. We also provide events and resources to support the academic and social lives of Brown graduate students.
Brown's Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology connects students and the public with global cultures through exhibitions, collections, research, and public programs. We're preparing to reopen in Spring 2027 in downtown Providence and look forward to welcoming students to learn about us and future opportunities to get involved.
Student Health Services provides wellness services and medical care to currently enrolled Brown University students. Health Services staff members partner with students to provide holistic care that is respectful of personal, cultural, and social identities. All services are confidential and designed to provide space for education, self-discovery, and intellectual growth.
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides technology support to all students at Brown. Some of our popular services include software licenses, printing, loaner laptops, and research computing. You can visit the OIT Service Center during our regular hours, call us, or submit a help request online.
International House of Rhode Island is an independent, nonprofit, multicultural organization that provides a “home away from home” for international students, scholars, professors, researchers, and their families. It enhances the local community by building cultural awareness and knowledge of the world through IHRI programs (language classes, international dinners, international films, dancing, concerts, etc.), all of which are meant to increase connection, celebrate similarities and differences, and envisioning a world in which friendship and understanding overwhelm anonymity, isolation, and ignorance.
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) supports Brown University's international students and scholars throughout their academic and professional journey. ISSS provides immigration advising and compliance services for F-1 and J-1 visa holders, issues and maintains immigration documents, advises on employment benefits such as CPT, OPT, and Academic Training, and assists with travel, status maintenance, program extensions, and other immigration-related matters.
The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at Brown University advances interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public dialogue on Latin America and the Caribbean. Through dynamic programming and strong support for students and faculty, CLACS engages the region’s diverse histories, languages, and pressing issues. Its work situates Latin America and the Caribbean in global contexts, fostering critical inquiry and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The LGBTQ Center, located at Stonewall House (22 Benevolent Street), is part of the Campus Life affinity centers here at Brown University. Open to all students, the center affirms and centers the needs of LGBTQ+ communities, and promotes an environment of radical inclusivity through an intersectional and social justice framework. We provide opportunities for learning, socializing, connecting to campus resources and building community through our programming and physical space.
The Master's Career Services Team supports all Master's Programs with their career development needs. They offer 1:1 appointments for career advice on job, internship and co-op search, resumes and cover letter reviews, networking and interviewing practice, salary negotiation discussion and PhD application support. The team hosts multiple events and workshops through the year to prepare students for the job market as well as to connect students with employers and Brown alumni.
The Office of Military-Affiliated Students (OMAS) assists student veterans, ROTC cadets, and other military-affiliated students in making successful transitions into and out of the Brown community. We do this by offering programs and support services that facilitate learning opportunities within the military-affiliated and Brown community at large, connecting students to campus and community resources, and by supporting and advocating for our student veterans and ROTC cadets. OMAS also engages with Brown students interested in learning more about the military-affiliated community and with students exploring their options to serve in the Armed Forces post-graduation.
The Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship is the campus hub for entrepreneurship. We support entrepreneurship with curricular, co-curricular and venture support programs.
The University Ombuds is an independent, confidential, neutral, and informal resource for faculty, staff, graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral scholars who face issues or conflicts arising from or affecting their work, life, or study at Brown.

Foreign national students can learn about the taxation of employment or fellowship payments they may receive from the University. They will also learn how to register for and complete their Sprintax-Calculus account to ensure their payments are taxed correctly.
The Office of the President amplifies the President's impact by ensuring that the President's priorities are appropriately communicated and advanced, engaging with University stakeholders on behalf of the President, and ensuring that the President's home and office are appropriately operated in service to Brown.
The Pembroke Center for Research and Teaching of Women was established in 1981 following the merger of Brown and Pembroke in 1971. Located in Pembroke Hall, it offers courses, degrees, certficates and suppports Ph.D. candidates in gender studies. It has its own faculty and offers graduate prizes for students.
The Division of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs provides academic opportunities for high school and undergraduate students. The Division engages throughout the year with students from around the world in intellectually and socially formative and challenging experiences in and out of the classroom with a diverse group of peers, instructors and staff. Brown University's Department of Public Safety & Emergency Management (DPSEM) is a full-service public safety and emergency management department that serves the Brown Community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, patrolling the campus to deter crime, develop community relations, and respond to calls for service and assistance.
Brown Recreation offers a wide range of opportunities to help students stay active, connect with others, and support their well-being. From state-of-the-art fitness centers, group fitness classes, and personal training to club sports and intramurals, there’s something for everyone to get involved and find their community.

RIPTA is the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority, a statewide public transportation agency operating fixed-route buses, flex services, and paratransit programs across 37 of the state's 39 municipalities, anchored by its main hub at Kennedy Plaza in downtown Providence.

The Brown Semester Internship Program combines a 12-14 week internship experience and academic coursework for the fall or spring semester. Students have the opportunity to gain direct experience in a dynamic field, immerse themselves in a new culture and community, and collaborate with fellow Brown students in small cohorts.
The Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning (sheridan.brown.edu) is a dedicated hub for enhancing teaching practices and fostering innovative learning experiences across the Brown community. We are home to the Tutoring program (UG students), Brown Learning Collaborative (UG students), the Writing Center, and English Language Support. And we offer certificate programs in support of graduate student teaching, as well as asynchronous orientations for new undergraduate and graduate Teaching Assistants.
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) supports undergraduate and graduate students with disability-related needs through accommodations and services. In partnership with students, faculty, and campus partners to implement individualized accommodations that promote access and inclusion.
The Student Activities Office (SAO) supports the initiatives of 450+ active, recognized student organizations. Whether you're looking to join existing student organizations, launch your own group or explore leadership opportunities, SAO provides assistance such as event planning, advocacy for student group needs and coordination of university services.

University Human Resources Student Employment supports students in finding on-campus jobs, completing onboarding requirements, and understanding employment policies and expectations. Student job opportunities exist across academic and administrative departments, ranging from entry-level roles to positions requiring specialized skills.
To ensure adequate protection against unexpected medical expenses, all campus-based full and part-time undergraduate, graduate and medical students in a degree granting program, are enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Participation in SHIP is required unless a waiver is submitted and approved each academic year. SHIP staff also provide insurance expertise and guidance to all students and families who would benefit from advice around the insurance process.
Study Abroad Advising helps Brown undergraduates discover study abroad programs that support their intellectual and personal goals. Brown offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study abroad through a wide variety of academic programs, some offered directly by the university and others sponsored by institutions that Brown approves for academic credit.
The Swearer Center is a community of scholars, students, practitioners, and partners working together to build on community strengths, address local challenges, and offer 14 paid fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students. The Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies (TAPS) is the intellectual and artistic center at Brown for faculty and students interested in the aesthetic, historical, literary, practical, and theoretical explorations of performance in global perspective - theatre, dance, speech, performance art, and performative "roles" in everyday life.
The Undocumented, First-Generation College, and Low-Income Student Center (U-FLi Center), founded in the fall of 2016, is a dedicated support hub at Brown University for students who identify with the U-FLi experience. The Center provides a space for community, learning, and advocacy by offering programs and initiatives designed to promote holistic student success and a sense of belonging. New students are encouraged to connect with the center’s team of U-FLi Peer Counselors who provide holistic mentorship throughout the year and coordinate events to help students navigate campus resources.
