Dear Graduate Students,

I look forward to welcoming new students to campus in the fall and hope that continuing students, on and off campus, are having a productive summer.

I write to share this letter from Provost Locke, which announces a pre-election agreement between Brown University and Stand Up for Graduate Student Employees (SUGSE). The agreement outlines shared principles and procedures that would govern a possible union representation election among eligible graduate students. The letter, which will be posted in tomorrow’s Today@Brown and is included in this news item, also restates our commitment to an open, fair, and fact-based discussion and debate.
