For Preview Day, you’ll need to select one program to visit through the RSVP form, as the event's structure only allows for a single in-person visit. Additionally, we strongly encourage you to connect with your other program(s) of interest by scheduling a virtual meeting (such as a Zoom call) or exploring other ways to stay in touch. This will ensure you have the chance to learn about all of the opportunities available to you at Brown.

You will have opportunities to:

• Connect with faculty, staff, and current graduate students
• Meet Graduate School leadership
• Learn more about Brown’s academic and community resources

Department visits are curated by program and vary widely; each visit is tailored to the individual students visiting and their interests. Previous visits have included meeting with faculty to learn about research and mentorship opportunities, speaking with current graduate students in the program to learn about their experiences, tours of labs or facilities, and time to ask questions about the admissions process with the director of graduate studies.

Travel support is available for any participant traveling domestically within the United States.

• Car: Mileage reimbursement available (include a mileage printout).
• Train or bus: Providence Amtrak Station is 1 mile from campus.
• Plane: Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport is ~10 miles from campus.
• Ground transportation from New York or Boston (bus or train).

You may request reimbursement of up to $500 for approved travel (train, bus, or plane).

We strongly encourage students to have their travel arranged directly by the Graduate School. This option ensures that your travel is paid for by the University, rather than requiring you to cover costs upfront and wait for reimbursement. Our goal is to make participation in this program accessible and not cost-prohibitive.

Yes, prospective students will share double rooms, assigned randomly. Room assignments will be shared in advance.

No, transportation from your arrival point to the hotel on Sunday is your responsibility. Rideshares for this portion cannot be reimbursed.

Dinner on Sunday, plus breakfast and lunch on Monday, are included. Other meals/expenses cannot be reimbursed.

Shuttles will run between the hotel and campus starting at 3:50 pm on Sunday. A detailed shuttle schedule will be shared closer to the event.
